Decanter, July 2023

Although the 2007 vintage is not highly coveted, this wine should not be missed. It is opulently aromatic, with a fragrant, floral edge to the bright red plum and raspberry fruit aromas which are still influenced by...

, April 2008

43% Merlot 44% Cabernet Sauvignon 13% Cabernet Franc. The color is dark inky purple almost opaque. The fruit is black berry and plum framed in mocha and caramelized toffee nougat. The palate is medium to full bodied with...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, July 2017

Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Haut Brion has a perfumed bouquet with abundant red fruit, sage, sandalwood and black olive scents that just seem to soar from the glass. The palate is...

Wine Enthusiast, April 2010

A serious wine, filled with firm tannins, spiced with wood, and layered with bitter coffee as well as fruit. It certainly has power, the structure ready for long aging, firmly anchored in the dense character of this wine...

jebdunnuck.com, February 2018

The 2007 Haut Brion is outstanding, and shows the forward, sexy, charming style of the vintage nicely. A blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc, it offers loads of upfront black...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, August 2017

Medium/full bodied, with elegance and charm, coupled with softness on the palate. Cigar box, tobacco, dark cherry and smoked earth create the nose. The mouth feel is really fine, with its ripe, polished, silky tannins...

Wine Spectator, March 2010

There's beautiful sweetness of fruit on the nose with floral and ripe plum undertones. Very aromatic and subtle. Medium- to full-bodied with fine tannins and a delicate fruit finish. Refined. Best after 2013.

Haut-Brion’s grand vin is the embodiment of five centuries of tradition and plays a pivotal role in the worldwide history of wine. It is the oldest of the Bordeaux classed growths, the inventor of a new style of wine fashioned in the seventeenth century, and considered the world’s first luxury brand.

Typically more Merlot dominant than other Left Bank wines, the terroir of Haut-Brion is expressed through its empyreumatic bouquet (Havana cigars, chocolate, roasting, cedar wood, and so on). The attack is restrained, with precise yet exceedingly soft tannins. But the power of this wine is revealed in the surprising long mid-palate and even longer finish.
