Sweet baking spices menthol minerals and new leather lead to a powerful core of dark fruit. This is a massive powerful Pajore endowed with tons of fruit and the commensurate tannic structure that will allow it to age gracefully for many years. As is often the case I am drawn in by the sepia-toned balsamic nuances that are layered so beautifully into the wine's fabric. This is an utterly beguiling large-scaled Barbaresco that will require patience. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. -Antonio Galloni

A supple floral- and cherry-flavored red elegant in demeanor and well-integrated. Shows intensity and persistence from start to finish with a long spicy finish. Best from 2012 through 2023. 420 cases made. -BS

Sottimano makes five expressions of Barbaresco and this wine from the Pajoré cru delivers surprisingly ripe aromas of cherry wild berries white truffle chopped herbs and drying mineral. It's an elegant and refined wine with noticeable acidity and a sharp finish yet the 2007 summer heat shows up in the wine's flavors and fleshy aromas. M.L.
