The wine was aged for 18 months in new French oak. It sports a superb aromatic array of toasty new oak, pencil lead, violets, incense, black cherry, and blueberry. Elegant, ripe, and velvety on the palate, it has superb depth and concentration, savory flavors, a firm structure, and a 45-second finish. Give it 6-8 years of additional bottle age and drink it from 2016 to 2032. -Jay Miller

This briliant Rioja is purple, almost black, and very opaque with little transition to the rim. The nose opens with blackberry, a bouquet of violet and lavender, followed by sweet cherry, graphite and wet stone. Rich and layered with dense fruit, the palate offers loads of spice, while the mid palate is lifted with a brooding tannic structure. Overall, the wine is very refined and has complexity throughout. The wine is a monster at this point, so I suggest letting this age another 5-6 years before considering a bottle and then easily enjoy the following 20. A fantastic tempranillo.
