Remarkably low yields of 18 hectoliters per hectare have resulted in one of the most seriously endowed concentrated wines of the vintage. Remarkably low yields of 18 hectoliters per hectare have resulted in one of the most seriously endowed concentrated wines of the vintage. Coming in at 14.5% natural alcohol the 2008 Peby boasts a dark purple color as well as hints of lead pencil shavings white chocolate blackberries blueberries and a touch of new oak. This seamless evolved offering is ideal for drinking now and over the next 15+ years. It is a big modern-styled exuberant flamboyant St.-Emilion that old school traditionalists may have trouble accepting.

Bright medium ruby. Exotic high-toned aromas of blueberry liqueur fruitcake and bitter chocolate. Creamy-sweet and opulent with superconcentrated dark berry and dark chocolate flavors. A bit liqueur-like for my taste... Bright medium ruby. Exotic high-toned aromas of blueberry liqueur fruitcake and bitter chocolate. Creamy-sweet and opulent with superconcentrated dark berry and dark chocolate flavors. A bit liqueur-like for my taste but fine-grained for all its thickness. Finishes with substantial broad sweet tannins and excellent length.

This is a very modern style wine that reminded me exactly of a well made CA zinfandel. Notes of toasty oak cherry and strawberry nice acidity.
