A discreet touch of wood frames strikingly complex, ripe, fresh and quite densely fruited earth suffused red pinot aromas that lead to rich, full-bodied and textured flavors that exude an overt muscularity on the equally explosive finish where the integrated tannins confer a dusty mouth feel to the moderately austere finale. This is an extremely impressive effort but note that even more patience will be required.

A dark, brooding style, exhibiting layered notes of cherry, flowers, spice and mineral etched upon a steel-girder construction. There's intensity and a saturation to the flavors, with a lively, linear aftertaste of fruit and mineral. Best from 2015 through 2035. 125 cases imported. –BS

Tasted at the IMW 2008 tasting at Vintners Hall. The Clos Vougeot is very well defined on the nose with ripe strawberry, loganberry and black cherries, vibrant and lively. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, tensile tannins, just a little herbaceous towards the finish but impressive persistency.
