Fermented and aged for 20 months in new oak barrels, the golden/amber-colored 2008 Chardonnay Trockenbeerenauslese No 8 Nouvelle Vague displays a deep, smoky, spicy and salty bouquet; it has aromas of concentrated and spicy fruit aromas (apple syrup, plums, walnuts, chestnuts) along with girolles, caramel, celery, parsley root. Smooth, round and fruit-intense on the sweet, dense and highly concentrated, viscous/oily palate, this is a super complex, highly elegant, firmly structured, complex and eternally long TBA with a stimulatingly salty finish. The 236 grams of residual sugar are interwoven and balanced by the almost mineral structure. A great TBA. -Stephan Reinhardt
