This is a new wine that the winemaker calls the "freestyle" of the winery's main Cabernet, Les Pavots. 47% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Petit Verdot. Shows lots of generous fruit with chocolate, lilies and other flowers. Full and round, velvety tannins with lots of strawberry character too. This is gorgeous. Drink it but will improve.

The estate's second wine the 2008 L'Esprit des Pavots Proprietary Red is composed of 47% Merlot 26% Cabernet Franc 24% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot. Also outstanding it is a more forward effort that is meant to be drunk in its first 10-12 years of life. Notes of chocolaty black cherries forest spice and earth are present in this medium to full-bodied lush 2008. It is ideal for drinking over the next decade.
