A muscular Gevrey, this is velvety on the surface, tense with tannin underneath. There's a gaminess to the wine, a meaty, blood sausage scent that speaks of its power. Then it stretches into [more] subtle refinement on the palate. If a body could be elegant and ripped at once, this manages to suggest the possibility.
