Sexy perfumed aromas of raspberry cherry and apricot with slow-building florality. Juicy expansive red and dark berry flavors stain the palate picking up notes of lavender pastille and Asian spices on the back end. Very pretty already with excellent clarity and sweetness on the finish.

The only Gigondas that Saurel made in 2008 is the 2008 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes. One of the finest wines I tasted in what is a very difficult year for the appellation it offers delicious ripe black fruit spring flower and crushed rock characteristics as well as a surprisingly opulent dense style with outstanding concentration texture and length. Consume it over the next 7-8 years.

Aromas of raspberry red currant and red cherry are at the forefront supported by provencal herbs lavendar floral and crushed stone scents. Medium to full-bodied with red fruits hints of earth truffles and a lovely floral character this has a rounded mouthfeel and structured tannins driving to a finish laden with minerals and dried herbs. This offers immediate enjoyment with 2-4 more years of development potential.
