Lovely violet, white pepper, black cherry and roasted tobacco aromas and flavors are supported by a mouthwatering chalky edge that cuts through the perfumy finish. Very nicely done for the vintage. Drink now through 2015... Lovely violet, white pepper, black cherry and roasted tobacco aromas and flavors are supported by a mouthwatering chalky edge that cuts through the perfumy finish. Even the 2008 St.-Joseph Vignes de l'Hospice, from a difficult vintage, is an outstanding effort. Incense, camphor, black currants, cherries, licorice, crushed rock and graphite characteristics are present in this dark ruby/plum-colored wine that defies the mediocrity of the vintage. A sleeper of the vintage, it is a tribute to the brilliant winemaking and elevage skills of the Guigal family.
