The 2009 Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from a single estate owned black that was planted prior to WWII. Deep garnet-purple colored, it offers lovely vanilla and spice notes over a core of black currants and blackberries with hints of pencil shavings and cedar. Medium to full bodied, it is both rich and nicely poised on the palate with a solid backbone of medium-firm fine grained tannins, crisp acid and a long and spicy finish. Drink this one 2014 to 2024+. - LPB

Heady, exotic bouquet evokes dark fruit compote, incense and vanilla, with woodsmoke and anise undertones. Stains the palate with intense cassis and cherry compote flavors that are sharpened by a peppery, spicy quality. Finishes sweet, velvety and long, with round, harmonious tannins. As sexy as this wine is now, I'd bet on it being even better with another three to five years of bottle age. - Josh Raynolds
