The 2009 Corton-Charlemagne had not yet been racked at the time of my visit and was just a touch reduced, but underneath one could see that this will be a lovely example of the vintage and decidedly longer-lived than the Corton Blanc. The nose offers up a superb blend of apple, pear, a touch of almond paste, stunning, chalky stoniness, spring flowers and a bit of beeswax in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and crisp, with a super core of fruit, excellent acidity and focus, exquisite balance and outstanding length and grip on the nascently complex and classy finish.
