The 2009 Mayozeres-Chambertin emerges from the glass with silky, perfumed red fruit. It possesses striking inner perfume and plenty of freshness in an attractive, medium-bodied style that is undeniably appealing. Floral notes add brightness and lift on the expressive, resonant finish. The Mayozeres is soft, sensual and totally beautiful. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. - Antonio Galloni

There is mild reduction here as well but it does not significantly hinder the evaluation of the spicy dark berry fruit and pungent earth aromas that precede the textured, intense and mouth coating big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors which are naturally sweet, rich and powerful with fine but dense tannins that shape the wonderfully persistent finish. Despite the reduction, it's clear that this is a dramatic wine that possesses excellent depth of character. Drink: 2026+ (BH94-92)

Lush and sweet on entry, then expansive in the middle, with dark berry flavors supported by a strong structure. This is really stuffed with fruit, and there's enough energy here to avoid coming off as heavy. Finishes with big, broad, dusty tannins and superb lingering sweetness. An excellent showing today, but this should be even better for a decade in the cellar.
