Such gorgeous fruit, with extremely polished tannins and a persistent finish. The new oak comes out at the finish, but it should melt together with age. A joy to taste now but better in 2016.

Produced by Haut Brisson La Reserve, the 2009 vintage has garnered significant praise from professional reviewers. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave it an impressive score of 95, highlighting its exceptional qualities. The review describes the wine as having an "inky purple" color and a "brilliant St.-Emilion" profile, suggesting it could easily be mistaken for a product of the St. Emilion plateau's premier terroirs. Parker notes that the wine is "structured and unevolved," recommending cellaring for 5-7 years to fully realize its potential. According to the review, the wine will reach its peak maturity between 2017 and 2030.

James Suckling also reviewed the 2009 Haut Brisson La Reserve, awarding it a score of 93. Suckling commended the wine for its "gorgeous fruit" and "extremely polished tannins." He further noted that the wine has a "persistent finish," with new oak flavors apparent at the end. However, he anticipated that these oak characteristics would integrate better with age. Suckling concluded that while the wine is "a joy to taste now," it would be even more rewarding if enjoyed after 2016.

In summary, the 2009 Haut Brisson La Reserve is a high-quality Bordeaux Blend that has received excellent reviews. Both Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and James Suckling praised its structure, flavor profile, and potential for aging. With its deep color and complex taste, this wine stands out as a notable example of the Saint Emilion region's output. It is recommended to cellar the wine for several years to fully appreciate its capabilities, making it an excellent addition to any collection.
