There is virtually no perception of tannin as this deep, fleshy wine opens up in the glass. The 2009 retains considerable freshness to balance some of its mover overt tendencies. A supple, textured finish rounds things out in style. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. - Antonio Galloni

Then full sweet and fat with fruit showing lovely depth to the flavors of cherry coffee and spices. Unusually tastable for this cuvee at this stage thanks to the fleshiness of the year. Really spreads out to cover the palate without leaving any impression of undue weight. Nicely delineated premier cru with a lovely slow-building finish. This should be outstanding in 10 to 12 years.

A brooding and quite restrained nose displays very cool in fact almost cold dark berry fruit aromas that possess the classic Gevrey markers of pungent earth humus and sauvage nuances. There is superb intensity to the powerful serious and mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess a taut muscularity on the austere mouth coating and impressively persistent finish. This should be genuinely outstanding if given the substantial amount of cellar time necessary.
