This is very Vosne with the intense spiciness exhibited by the expressive nose of ripe cassis and blue berry aromas that complement the anise and cinnamon notes that can be found on the rich and silky flavors that brim with dry extract, all wrapped in a dusty, mouth coating and naturally sweet finish. The 2009 Vosne-Romanee is a touch linear and compact for the vintage, but nevertheless shows plenty of intensity and sheer muscle. Good lift to the aromas of redcurrant, licorice, spices and nutty oak. Sweet, juicy and rather dense for village wine, with attractive inner-mouth perfume. Saturates the palate on the back end, finishing with spicy tannins and lovely aromatic persistence. "Always a relatively low pH here," notes Croix, but there's nothing austere about this wine in 2009.
