Showing the same elegance and polish as the '10 the 2009 Domaine de la Charbonnière Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Mourre des Perdrix is a gorgeous wine that represents the essence of Châteauneuf possessing loads of toasted spice red fruits licorice garrigue and meat juice aromas and flavors full body fine tannin and a classic clean and very focused finish. From sand and clay soils just outside of Courthézon this rock solid '09 can be consumed now or cellared for a decade.

Quite muscular with roasted tobacco leaf and charcoal notes up front backed by a core of blackberry cassis and plum sauce. Thick but velvety tannins cruise in on the finish which is long and tarry. Best from 2013 through 2023.
