janeanson.com, September 2024

Melted tannins, juicy black fruits, finessed appellation signature, this opens to grilled blackberry and bilberries, brambed and pureed, with slate tannins and a wave of campfire smoke. Well balanced acidity also, this is...

jamessuckling.com, March 2012

Aromas of cocoa powder and currants, follow through to a full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a juicy, berry and chocolate aftertaste. Lovely polish to this. Try in 2018.

, January 2012

65% cabernet sauvignon 30% merlot 5% petit verdot. Notes of mushroom damp wood and earth dominate the nose backed by notes of blackberry and espresso aromas. Big but very closed at this stage the tannins are grainy and...

Decanter, February 2019

A well structured wine with smoke and cedar edging to the aromatics, a generous, ripe fruit structure and soft, well-integrated tannins. It has clear appeal. At this stage, the 2005 seems to better encapsulate the heart...

Wine Enthusiast, February 2012

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2012

Wine Spectator, March 2012

Dark plum and blueberry compote notes lead the way followed by dark cocoa and tobacco. A fleshy feel runs throughout with a stony edge adding length and balance on the finish. Best from 2013 through 2021.

The grand vin of Talbot is harvested by hand, with vinification in a combination of cone-shaped wooden vats and stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 14 months in 50 to 60 percent new barrels originating from eight different coopers. Renowned enologists Jacques Boissenot, Julien Lavenu and Stéphane Derenoncourt consult on the winemaking and blending.
