A blend of 60% Merlot 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc this has a ripe rounded velvety smooth bouquet that has slightly better delineation than the Clementin du Pape Clement tasted alongside. The palate is full-bodied with dense tannins but good acidity. Tightly coiled but well defined towards the finish. Outstanding!

A solid core of currants and coffee with hints of new wood. Full and velvety with a lovely texture and medium finish. Better than 2009.

Aged for 18 months in 50% new oak and 50% one year. Referred to as the `Pearl of the Medoc' the vineyard is located on the famous Saint Christoly du Medoc gravel outcrop of gravel over clay. The nose offers perfumed black and blue fruit with Asian spice and tarry phenolics - tar fresh pavement and turned earth. Primary blackberry and boysenberry fill the mouth with crushed earth and pulverized rocks on the silky rich glycerol palate. Broad-shouldered round tannins match the ultra ripe fruit nicely. Tasted twice.
