Reviews for 2010 Gironville Bordeaux Blend

WS 91
Wine Spectator - Wine Spectator, March 2011
Very round and easygoing with creamy-textured plum and blueberry fruit and ample toasty vanilla running through the finish. On the toasty side but with solid fruit. -J.M.

Planted in deep gravelly soils in the southern portion of the appellation. Aged in 20% Cadus 40% François Frères 10% Sylvain 10% Saury and 20% Taransaud barrels from the Allier and Hungarian forests the latter with ultra-fine grain. Fruit was harvested from Sep 28 (merlot) to Oct 21 (cabernet). Net yields were 50 hls/ha. Crushed earth clay spring flowers and brambly black fruit lift the nose. A very juicy entry of spicy blackberry and mocha chocolate shows a plush texture with superfine tannins. This wine is a sleeper of the appellation.
