jamessuckling.com, April 2011

(JS92-93 points) This is a wine that shows lots of chocolate tobacco and currants. Full body with velvety tannins and a long finish. All there.

Neal Martin's Wine Journal, March 2014

Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. The Haut-Bergey 2010 has a very concentrated bouquet with dense blackberry, briary, crushed stone and tobacco on the nose that unfolds in the glass. The palate is...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, May 2013

One of the top values from Pessac Leognan offers aromas of espresso, tobacco, black raspberry and smoke. The smooth, soft textures, forward personality and fresh, ripe berries make this already pleasurable to drink, and...

Wine Enthusiast, June 2011

(90-92 points) A spicy, aromatic wine that shows powerful wood character as well as fruit tannins. The style is dark, firmly tannic, powerful, very dense. ROGER VOSS

Vinous, August 2013

Good dark ruby-red. Wild aromas of black cherry, incense and sexy oak. Smooth, plush and rich, with rather full-bodied flavors of plum, tobacco, flowers, minerals and herbs. The sweet finish features a fine dusting of...

Grapes for Haut-Bergey's red are hand picked and transported in small boxes. The winemaking is traditional, with every parcel vinified separately in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months. The blend ranges from 54% to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, the rest being Merlot. Haut-Bergey is medium-bodied and ages well for 8-15 years, depending on the vintage.
