The 2010 Chambertin Clos de Beze from Maison Drouhin is simply a profound bottle in the making. The brilliant nose erupts in a black fruity melange of cassis, plums, raw cocoa, gentle meatiness, fresh nutmeg, a profoundly complex base of soil and a nice framing of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very transparent, with a sappy core of fruit, ripe tannins, tangy acids, a very, very soil-driven personality, and magical length and grip on the hauntingly pure and properly reserved finish. A brilliant bottle of Chambertin Clos de Beze! 2022-2100. 96+.
