Small wild red fruits and a cassis leaf hint of reduction on the nose. Tight and saline with a solid core of red berry flavors complicated by coffee smoke and minerals. Quite explosive in the mouth spreading out to saturate the entire palate. This will drink early and late. The tannins are buried in fruit. Very fine-grained grand cru with subtle persistence and noteworthy breed.

A highly spiced and notably ripe nose features plum black berry and liqueur of black raspberry scents. The rich concentrated and energetic medium weight plus flavors ooze dry extract that imparts a velvety and textured character to the mouth feel all wrapped in a mouth coating finish. There is quite a bit of wood present and while the mid-palate is admirably dense the toast of the wood is somewhat bitter. There is a good chance that the oak treatment will be successfully absorbed given the density of the underlying material but that is an assumption not a given.
