Burghound, April 2012

This offers up the most complex nose of these three Vosne 1ers with an exuberantly spicy black fruit and cassis scents. There is excellent size and weight to the powerful and admirably concentrated broad-shouldered...

Wine Spectator, April 2013

Silky texture envelops the black cherry, floral and licorice flavors in this lush red. The base of dusty tannins is covered by flesh. Very harmonious, revealing plenty of power in reserve. Best from 2015 through 2035. – BS

Maison Roche de Bellene is a negociant business in Burgundy launched in 2009 by Nicolas Potel, the owner of Domaine de Bellene. The business offers only the finest wines in limited cuvees to achieve its goal: to be the only “Haute Couture" negociant in Burgundy. Grapes are sourced from the same growers that Nicolas has been working with the last 15 years, who are either BIO certified or practice sustainable farming methods. The range of wines includes the widest selection of Grand Crus, prestige cuvees and individual terroirs from old vines both the Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits.

Bellene comes from the name “Belenos”, an ancient Gallic god of sun and beauty similar to Apollon to the Greeks and to the god of the sun to the Celtic. Beaune City was named “Belena” during the Roman period and “Bellene” in the Middle Ages.

Malconsorts is in the south of Vosne Romanee not far from Nuits-St.-Georges.
