James Halliday - James Halliday, July 2012
Around 200 dozen bottles made and the striking label is full of shades of black. Getting past that this is a remarkably elegant wine with a juicy cascade of red fruits finely tempered French oak and silky tannins.

Spicy and perfumed in the mouth with excellent clarity to its intense blackberry and candied violet flavors. Brisk and penetrating with excellent finishing clarity and lingering spiciness. Balanced to age but very sexy now.

Beautiful aromas pure of fruit and gently savoury dash of pepper a touch of concentrated dried fruit character but lending character not distraction. There's a soft ferrous note in the wine too but it's mopped up by medium bodied anise-tinged fruit flavours through the palate. Seamless soft and bright in flavour this is a surprisingly elegant wine of immense drinkability. Brisk acidity with a slick of sage herbals lifts the wine and a wisp of tobacco-leaf savouriness and a line of dusty tannins run through. Finishes long and pure and juicy. Slinky and delicious.
