95+ The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon may even eclipse the 2009, even though production was about half of what it was in 2009. This 2011-case, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was produced from clones 337 and 7. Yields were a ridiculously low, one ton of fruit per acre, and the wine was aged in 90% new French oak for 20 months. It seems to combine the best of a top northern Pauillac or St.-Estephe with the ripeness, richness and full-bodied splendor of a high elevation Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. Broodingly backward at present, the 2010 will require some patience. Its opaque purple color is accompanied by aromas of pen ink, asphalt, charcoal embers and abundant blackberry and creme de cassis fruit. Some foresty, floral-like notes are also present in this full-bodied, intense wine with superb purity, a multidimensional mouthfeel and a terrific finish that lasts 40+ seconds. However, the tannins in the finish are noticeable, and the wine needs 3-5 years of cellaring. This treasure should be forgotten for 5 years and drunk over the following three decades. - Robert Parker
