From a 9-hectare estate with average vine age of 40 years planted at a density of 6600 vines per hectare in mixed gravel and clay soils. Aged in a combination of 55% new oak and 45% one-year old barrels sourced from five to six forests and a similar number of coopers. Opaque purple with violet rim. The wine displays an enticing and harmonious nose of black truffle black fig pepper sweet tobacco and licorice and an impressive silky mid-palate. Surprisingly this is accessible enough to pull the cork and enjoy now but built for mid-term drinking with fine grained tannins that will carry this for the next 15 to 20 years. Clinet has been making some really stellar wines and Ronan Laborde's 2011 effort is a great follow up to the sensational 2009 and 2010. About 4000 cases produced.

Clinet has produced a blockbuster wine, even in the lighter, less consistent vintage of 2011. It reveals a dense purple color as well as an abundance of black cherry, black currant and blackberry fruit intermixed with licorice, incense and a touch of camphor. Full-bodied, opulent and fleshy with a substantial finish, this showy, dramatic 2011 should drink well for 15-20 years. Brilliant! - Robert Parker

Wine Spectator - Wine Spectator, January 2013
This has solid range with blueberry loganberry and bergamot notes mixed together and framed by anise-infused toast. There's solid flesh through the finish with lingering purity.-J.M.

Blackberry fruits dominate this ripe wine. It is already delicious with a round and well-cushioned structure. -R.V.

James Suckling - jamessuckling.com, January 2013
A silky wine with dark chocolate and currant character. Chewy tannins but polished. Full and complete. Very velvety textured. Hand crafted wine for the vintage.

Broad, ripe and dry, with a graceful texture to the deep flavors of cassis, black cherry and dark chocolate. Began rather monolithic but showed emerging sweetness and very good grip with aeration. Finishes with a firm spine of acidity and mouthcoating tannins, with lingering hints of ripe dark fruits and tobacco. - Ian D'Agata
