A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc the Pavie-Macquin has a very sensual bouquet very pure with raspberry wild strawberry and red cherries. This is a very pretty nose and the oak is well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins an impressive ball of sweet red fruit at its centre and fine almost filigree tannins at its centre. I like the focus the joie-de-vivre of Nicolas Thienpont's wine. This is an exceptional wine for the vintage. Tasted April 2012.

James Suckling - jamessuckling.com, January 2014
This is rich and concentrated with loads of fruit and ripe tannins. Full body and a long, long finish. Beautiful intensity. Better in 2017 but so juicy and drinkable now. Nice and balanced for the vintage.

This has lovely energy, with the vintage's up-front briary feel pulling the flavors of plum sauce, blackberry coulis and cherry preserves along while anise, apple wood and fruitcake notes fill in behind them. Offers a solid, juicy feel through the finish, revealing floral and incense hints in reserve. Rock-solid.—Non-blind Pavie Macquin vertical (December 2014). Best from 2018 through 2028. – JM

An elegant wine, it manages to embrace its rich fruit and still show style. There is an opulent texture, driven by ripe Merlot, yet the wine is also fresh and crisp, full of black currant fruit. Drink from 2017.

This well-known St.-Emilion estate has turned out a dense purple-colored blend of 84% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Super-concentrated, but not over-extracted, with an essence of blackberry, blueberry and black raspberry fruit interwoven with dusty, chalky minerality as well as a floral note, this full-bodied, rich, moderately tannic, pure, layered, impressive 2011 will benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring. It can be enjoyed over the following two decades. 92+ - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Red cherry, dark berries, pepper, licorice and minerals on the almost Burgundian nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Lovely inner-mouth perfume and precision to the pure raspberry, dark cherry and crushed violet flavors. The long, bright, rising finish features spicy, smooth tannins and lingering floral perfume, but a pyrazine (bell pepper) note also emerges.

Average vine age is 40 years planted in clay and limestone soils over deep limestone bedrock. Seductive freshly-picked strawberries plums and blackberry on the nose carry with perfect ripeness onto the palate. A lot of structure with fine tannins this is a full-bodied expression of the vintage. Approachable 2-3 years after release but will continue to improve over the next 10-15 years. Both Nicolas Thienpont and Stephane Derenoncourt consult. Enjoy 2015-2030. Tasted twice.
