This is really quite floral in character with unusually elegant red berry fruit, especially red currant scents that display plenty of soil tones. There is fine volume and excellent mid-palate density to the medium-bodied flavors that are supported by markedly firm but not aggressive tannins on the moderately austere and impressively persistent finish. This is very much a classic Clos de Vougeot and patience will absolutely be required as I don't see this being particularly approachable young.

Some real subtlety here. Lots of energy and raciness. Light and lively but not wimpy in any way. Very much a 21st-century style. Lots of transparent fruit and not too much forcing. For enjoying early although one hopes it will continue to evolve too. Very impressive persistence. 18+/20

The 2011 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is from two parcels that are vinified separately in order to exclude the plot close to the road. It has a lively bouquet with perfumed, floral, red berry fruit that is feminine and open. The palate is underpinned by fine tannins: crisp acidity lending it poise with a dash of spice entering toward the long, fleshy finish. This is a well-crafted Clos de Vougeot of mid-term drinking.
