(BH91-93 points) A deft application of oak allows the exceptionally fresh, cool and pure red pinot fruit and stone aromas full reign to shine. There is wonderfully intensity and detail to the vibrant mineral-driven flavors that possess a linear, palate coating and wonderfully long finish. This is also relatively fine and if not quite as refined as the Chapelle, its personality is more defined by its minerality.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2011 from Drouhin-Laroze has an intriguing and complex bouquet: a mixture of red and black fruit, some stem-like scents; autumn woodland and undergrowth developing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy cranberry and strawberry fruit underpinned by fine tannins and plenty of body toward the finish. Still youthful and vibrant, I suspect this has a long and prosperous future ahead. - Neal Martin
