(92-94) Here too the wood treatment is quite deft which allows the cool Granny Smith apples, pear, wet stone and spice scents to shine. There is also a seductive mouth feel to the broad-shouldered, supple and round flavors that brim with dry extract before displaying plenty of power and punch on the seriously long finish. This is easily the most backward wine in the range at present yet the impression is unusually fine, both in the context of the appellation but also in the context of this wine in general as it's usually more robust. Be all of that as it may, this is very, very promising.

A powerhouse, boasting peach, apple and lemon flavors, accented by baking spice details. Rich and well-defined by vibrant acidity, revealing a long aftertaste of ripe fruit, mineral and spice notes. Best from 2015 through 2023. 43 cases imported. –BS

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2011 from Faiveley has a ripe and generous bouquet that is well defined with fine minerality. It gains intensity in the glass with orange rind and earthy scents, just a touch of pyrazine in the background. The palate is well balanced and here it seems full ripe. Good depth, quite gras, very Corton-Charlemagne with a cohesive and harmonious finish that just glides across the mouth. The oak is rather obvious, at least at the moment, but it does slip down the throat with ease.
