The unique terroir of this 6.5-hectare estate situated between Trotanoy and Latour a Pomerol benefits from a soil structure of gravel on top of clay and has seen tremendous advancements in quality resulting in breakout vintages for 2008 2009 and 2010. 2011 is no exception. Aged 14 months in 70% new oak. 13.8% alcohol. Dark cherry core with violet rim. Alluringly aromatic with layered aromas of dark plum cola nut espresso and clay. The palate is infused with expansive cassis flavors that gain in concentration along with cola nut and licorice in the background. There's a seamless integration with wonderful silkiness on the center palate. Energizing and lifted this has a mélange of cedar mineral and garrigue on the finish leaving a final impression of spice framed by full and fine-grained tannins. Like numerous Pomerol this 2011 stacks up to the 2010 quite well. Tasted four times. Hands down the finest Pomerol of 2011 in its price point. Bravo to Mr. Casseuil!

As I have written in previous Bordeaux reports, proprietor Chasseuil is on the move qualitatively, taking Feytit-Clinet to the summit of Pomerol. Readers should latch on to a few bottles as it is just a matter of time before prices reflect the quality at this estate. Another big-time winner, the 2011 boasts a blue/black/purple color and thick, rich, meaty, blood-like berry fruit intermixed with hints of truffles and licorice. This formidably endowed wine (one of the most concentrated of the vintage) has no hard edges. The final blend was 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. Give it another 3-4 years to develop a few nuances aromatically, and drink it over the following 10-15 years. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Deep purple-colored, the 2011 Feytit-Clinet doesn't have the density or weight of the 2009 or 2010 yet has beautiful purity in its ripe blue and black fruits, violets, and scorched earth. Medium to full-bodied, fresh, with building tannin, it's balanced, rich, and a beautiful wine. It offers plenty of texture and charm today but will benefit from short-term cellaring.

Already showing aromatic development, the nose sports flowers, cocoa, wet earth and cherries. Medium/full bodied, with silky, polished tannins and sweetness to the polished red fruits, this early drinking charmer hits the spot today.
