Dark purple/black core that extends almost straight to the rim. Aromas of black cherry and cassis are supported by notes of dried herbs clove eucalyptus and a touch of forest floor on a rich imposing bouquet. Made in Dave Phinney's typical full-bodied style the wine shows beautiful dark fruit on the palate with ample structure from silky well-integrated tannins. With more acidity than usual this vintage the wine exhibits complexity and length without being too heavy or cloying. Fans of big complex reds will enjoy this Rhone-style blend. Complex, if a bit rustic and tannic, featuring lots of red berry, fresh-turned earth, sour berry and cranberry notes, ending with a touch of road tar. Will appeal to those who like to chew on their reds. Grenache, Petite Sirah and Syrah. Drink now through 2021. – JL
