The Weinbach 2011 Riesling Schlossberg Cuvee Sainte Catherine is alluringly scented with gentian, iris, crushed stone, fresh lime and white peach. Peach kernel and citrus pip bitterness stimulate on an expansive and otherwise polished palate that possesses by vintage standards an exceptional degree of compensatory sheer juiciness. Alkaline, smoky and stony notes add interest to the lingering and for its vintage surprisingly bright and energetic - if also faintly warm - finish. I would plan to follow this through at least 2020. - David Schildknecht
