The 2012 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint Jean sees slightly more new oak at 30% and that is nicely embroidered on the nose that reveals attractive buttercup, lime and hazelnut aromas. There is commendable vigor here – clean and fresh. The palate displays very fine tension and a sense of energy with a dash of spice enlivening the satisfying finish. This premier cru deserves a light applause. Drink now-2020. - Neal Martin
