(91-93) An array of red-toned fruit, slate, crushed rocks and flowers inform the 2012 Moulin-à-Vent La Roche. Energetic and focused to the core, the 2012 impresses for its pure energy, focus and cut. The lifted, chalky style of the 2012 is hugely attractive. Today, the 2012 is tense and wiry, but it should start softening a bit over the next year or two. (90-92) A well-layered nose exhibits notes of black currant, pepper and floral nuances. There is very good richness and volume to the muscular and softly mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess fine power and punch on the lingering if presently quite strict finish. This will need a few years to flesh out and loosen up.
