93+ Picked two weeks later than Turckheim the yellow-golden colored 2012 Riesling Clos Windsbuhl was the last harvested Riesling in 2012. Picked with a touch of botrytis (less than 10%) it fermented very lazy and stopped with technically not really dry 11.5 grams per liter residual sweetness. Bottled in March 2015 the wine shows a very elegant, super ripe and very intense yet pure, precise and highly elegant bouquet of sweet cherries, lemon chutney and some hints of lemon oil. Rich and piquant on the palate, and provided with a pronounced acidity and penetrating mineral Muschelkalk character that absorbs the sweetness extremely well. The 2012 Clos Windsbuhl is indeed a dry and mineral tasting Riesling with a rich, round texture and a very elegant finish of very persistent salinity. There is also a great finesse in this wine, which should be stored for another three or 23 years. - Stephan Reinhardt
