Drouhin owns 1.5 hectares of 45- to 50-year-old vines and this cru debuted in 2008. In fact, it was here that they first trialed with biodynamics. The 2012 was picked on the same day as the Vaillons and vinified in the same manner. The nose is similar to the Vaillons, but with a little more delineation and spiciness. The palate is medium-bodied and very harmonious with well-judged acidity. There are subtle notes of bell pepper and spice toward the elegant finish that leaves with a salty tang. Very fine. Drink now-2020. -Neal Martin

Wine Enthusiast, July 2015
0 With the right intensity for a premier cru, this is a rich, lightly toasty wine. It has layers of chalky, mineral texture along with dense fruits and a sense of structure and potential. Drink from 2017.

More minerally on the nose than the Vaillons, with high-pitched aromas of lime and lemon curd. Concentrated and vibrant, offering subtle notes of saline minerality, citrus fruit and flowers. This really saturates the mouth without leaving any impression of weight. Finishes firm and persistent. This would be perfect with grilled langoustines. - Stephen Tanzer

The 2012 Secher has booming aromatics of dry pears, apples and white peach nuanced with some exotic fruit and meyer lemon. Toasted almonds and vanilla are also present on the nose adding a lovely degree of complexity. Freshly cut white flowers complete the bouquet. The wine transitions smoothly to the palate, where it coats the mouth pleasantly and is medium to full-bodied. The finish is long and lingers with notes of dry fruit and quenching acidity. Pair this with an assortment of garden salads, cheeses or meaty fish such as monkfish or salmon. It could go another 7-8 years in the cellar but it is already nice now.
