Violets, new leather, white flowers, spices and blue fruits caress the palate. The Clos Saint-Denis is a wine of exquisite finesse and sheer beauty. Finely knit tannins support the fragrant, beautifully perfumed finish. Layers of flavor continue to soar from the glass in a seemingly never-ending display of pure class. Today, the Clos Saint-Denis dazzles. It's as simple as that.

Subtle nose offers a sweet floral perfume. Intensely flavored and sharply delineated, showing an almost 2010-like tension to its urgent flavors of redcurrant, pepper, herbs and rose petal. Totally different in texture from the deeper-pitched Clos de la Roche. This boasts a creamy sweetness too but with juicy acidity and underlying stony minerality giving it more obvious early shape and grip. Finishes very long and minerally, with a strong but suave tannic spine. There were a lot of pink berries here, noted Barnier, but they were small and ripe.

(BH93-95 points) Here the nose is quite similar to that of the Clos de la Roche save for the fact that it's spicier. There is a silky texture to the detailed and sleekly muscular medium-bodied flavors that are not as powerful though the refinement of a classic Clos St. Denis is explicitly in evidence on the hugely long finish. In a word, this is terrific.
