The 2012 Clos St. Jacques from Maison Jadot was quite closed at the time of my November visit, but it is clearly going to be a superb example of the vintage. The bouquet is a fine and reserved blend of red and black cherries, dark berries, woodsmoke, dark soil tones, venison and a nice base of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and still very primary, with nascent complexity, a fine core of fruit, ripe, well-integrated tannins and impressive length and grip on the primary finish. This will be excellent, but give it time. (Drink between 2025-2065)
