Sweet spices, menthol and new leather meld into a core of expansive dark red/black fruit. The 2012 deftly balances volume and structure. All the elements fall into place as this gracious, hugely appealing Suchots shows off its considerable personality and pure class.

(WA91-93 points) The 2012 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Suchots has a typically more floral and feminine bouquet, erring more towards the red fruit spectrum: raspberry, crushed strawberry and Morello emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded, fleshy opening. There is good weight and extract here, although it remains linear, preferring not to fan out on the finish, but remain “correct” and perhaps “conservative”. Again, this will require 5 to 6-years in the cellar. - Neal Martin

Quintessential Burgundy aromas and flavors of black raspberry, bitter cherry, Oriental spices, coffee, and musky underbrush, all lifted by an element of peppery herbs. Densely packed, spicy and taut; initially seems a bit light but there's real sap here. The light peppery quality combines with fine tannins to give the finish grip and lift. My recorked bottle held up for days in the refrigerator.

A ripe and exceptionally spicy dark berry fruit, violet and plum-suffused nose displays a discreet top note of menthol. There is excellent volume to the solidly concentrated and seductive medium weight flavors that possess lovely balance partially thanks to the fine grain of the supporting tannins on the beguiling complex finish. While like many 2012s today, this could be enjoyed today but it appears to be already shutting down. So, while this is most promising for the future I would either try a bottle immediately or put it in the back of the cellar for the next decade plus. 2024+
