The House of Laurent-Perrier was founded in 1812 by Andre Michel Pierlot, a negociant in the wines of Champagne. His son Alphonse Pierlot, not having any heirs, subsequently bequeathed the House to his cellar master, Eugene Laurent.

Following his death in 1887, Eugene’s widow, Mathilde Emilie Perrier, took the helm of the business and combined her own name with that of her husband, naming the business “Veuve Laurent-Perrier”. Eugenie-Hortense Laurent succeeded her mother in 1925. Hard-hit by the economic crisis between the wars and heavily in debt, she sold the estate to Marie-Louise de Nonancourt in 1939.

Bernard de Nonancourt dedicated his life to a single passion: Laurent-Perrier. His courage, convictions and energy transformed a small Champagne House purchased by his mother in 1939 into a global brand. Keen on innovation, strongly attached to champagne traditions and to quality, he forged the commercial culture of Laurent-Perrier and created a renowned brand with a range of unique champagnes.

Up until his death on 29 October 2010, he made his vibrant stamp on the House of Laurent-Perrier, which will remain forever. The continued success of Laurent-Perrier is now overseen by his two daughters, Alexandra Pereyre de Nonancourt and Stephanie Meneux de Nonancourt. They offer a full range of Champagnes, from Ultra-Brut to Demi-Sec, the vintage-dated Brut Millesime and Alexandra Rose, and their tete-de-cuvee, Grand Siecle.

With its composition marked by a high percentage of Chardonnay, Laurent-Perrier Brut is the signature House style, offering freshness, lightness and elegance.

It is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, and 15% Pinot Meunier, all harvested manually. Over 55 crus, rated an average 94%, are used to make it. Up to 20% of reserve wine is sometimes included to guarantee the quality and consistency of the Laurent-Perrier style.

Laurent-Perrier Brut has a fresh, pale gold color that highlights its delicate, persistent bead. Perfumed floral notes come together with citrus and stone fruit. Mellowness, finesse and freshness combine to achieve a remarkable balance and a long, satisfying finish.

The 2012 Laurent-Perrier Brut is a Champagne of exceptional quality and finesse. Crafted by the esteemed Laurent-Perrier house, this wine showcases the perfect balance between the house style and the unique characteristics of the 2012 vintage. With a beautiful pale white color and a delicate effervescence, this Champagne is a true delight for the senses.

The blend consists of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, sourced from carefully selected villages in Champagne. The Pinot Noir, sourced from Bouzy, Verzy, Aÿ, Mailly, and Rilly-la-Montagne, adds a powerful and intense character to the blend. On the other hand, the Chardonnay sourced from Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant, and Chouilly brings elegance and finesse. Together, they create a harmonious and complex flavor profile.

On the nose, the Laurent-Perrier 2012 reveals an energetic yet bright bouquet. Aromas of orchard fruits, herbs, lemon, and spices dance gracefully, with a hint of refreshing menthol. On the palate, this Champagne showcases a medium-to-full-bodied structure with a laser-like texture. The fine bubbles create a creamy and velvety mouthfeel, adding to the overall luxurious experience.

Critics have praised this Champagne for its outstanding qualities. Decanter awarded it a score of 93, describing it as having a beautiful maturity and a dry, sunny summer character. James Suckling awarded it an impressive 94 points, highlighting its precise and focused palate with sharp acidity and tight, fine bubbles. Wine Spectator also gave it a score of 93, praising its harmonious nature and refreshing streak of salinity on the finish. Finally, Jeb Dunnuck awarded it another 94 points, noting its Burgundian feel, vibrant green fruits, and well-balanced structure.

This 2012 Laurent-Perrier Brut is a Champagne of exceptional quality, showcasing the unique characteristics of the vintage and the expertise of the Laurent-Perrier house. Enjoy it now or cellar it for the next 15-20 years to witness its continued evolution and refinement.
