Wine Enthusiast, May 2015

A parcel of almost 100% Cabernet Franc gives this perfumed, classy wine. It’s very structured, mineral-textured and darkly dense. Powerful and concentrated, this intense wine will develop into a major statement. Drink...

janeanson.com, November 2024

Reserved on the nose, takes time to open up, then shows sandalwood, incense, black pepper, grilled damson, salted caramel, all wrapped up in sinewy tannins. Still young, plenty of poise to this wine, coupled with...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2015

This St.-Emilion (1,000 cases), which has a very high percentage of Cabernet Franc (80%, which is much higher than Cheval Blanc or Ausone) has always been the flagship wine of proprietor Jonathan Malthus. The 2012 has a...

jamessuckling.com, February 2015

Intense aromas of ripe strawberries with cedar and mineral notes. This is a full-bodied red combining gentle tannins, good acidity and a clean finish. Balanced and pretty. 80% cabernet franc and the rest is merlot. Drink...

Vinous, September 2022

The 2012 Le Dôme has a fresh and vibrant nose, black truffle infusing the brambly red fruit, hints of black pepper and decayed leaves filtering through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of piquancy on...

Vintage 2012
Size 750ML

The Le Dome Grand Cru is a blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot. Vines for this release are cropped low – around 30 hectoliters per hectare – four bunches to the vine (less than half the volume authorized by the Appellation), thus ensuring its incredible concentration.

The fruit is hand-harvested then sorted, first by bunch then grape-by-grape. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats after extremely cold maceration. Malolactic fermentation and aging takes place in new French oak barrels.

Le Dome has the highest Cabernet Franc percentage of any wine in Bordeaux and is said to be the biggest expression of that grape in the region. The wine is full-bodied but has elegance and finesse. The optimal drinking window is very broad, from just a few years to more than 25 years after the vintage.
