There’s lots to admire in this richly flavored effort, offering tiers of graphite, mocha, dark berry, toasty oak and savory notes. Maintains a bold profile on the long and persistent finish, and promises to develop in the future. Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot. Drink now through 2026. — J.L.

13% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Sauvignon; 3% Petit Verdot. Very much hewing to the Lewis line as far as its richness and sheer depth of fruit are concerned, this very expressive, mouthfilling wine runs to very ripe berries with sweet oak galore and shows highlights of smoke and milk chocolate. There are lesser touches of spice to remind that this is, in fact, Syrah, and it has the body and heft to confirm it. A bit of heat manages to peek through in its lengthy, nominally tannic finish, but it will be of little or no consequence when the wine is brought to the table as a foil to foods of big flavor.
