One of several 2012s in this Issue that are making the case for the vintage, this wine hits all the varietal marks in terms of its keenly focused ripe apple character, its pulpy, juicy, generosity, its toast and baked brioche overlays and its exceptional vitality that pulls all of its pieces together. Full on the palate with a supple, near to fleshy, mouthfilling texture, but so nicely balanced that it comes across as loaded with potential for the future, this wine is a fine example of why California Chardonnay succeeds in both brisk and full-bodied styles, of which this is clearly one of the leading lights in the latter category.
