We rather expect Darioush Syrahs to be big, ripe and rich, and,
while this one fully meets expectations, it does a very good job
at going right to the brink without going too far. It is certainly
no shrinking violet, but it finds more than enough concentrated,
decidedly succulent fruit as a foil to its ripeness and extravagant
oak, and it ranks among the richer offerings around. It tightens
up a bit at the finish, and its tannic imperatives prescribe at least
a half-decade of age, yet it has the right stuff to grow for another
five years after that.
