The vineyards of the cooperative of Tautavel and Vingrau span nearly 2,500 acres in the new AOC of Cotes du Roussillon Villages Tautavel. Divided into hundreds of small plots, the vineyards are planted on slopes of red, chalky, clay soils.
Planted varieties include Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan Noir and Lladoner Pelut. The vines, mainly worked by hand, produce small yields which are not allowed to exceed 1,800 liters per acre.
The wines must be blends of at least two varieties and are generally dark, powerful and extremely fruity with soft tannins and elegant structure.
