(90-93 points) Reduction. Here the big-bodied flavors are both bigger and richer with fine volume and density before terminating in a velvety, palate coating and muscular finish. This is old school in style but not at all hard or even especially rustic though note well that patience will be required.

(91-93 points) The 2013 Corton “Maréchaudes” was the first wine to finish its malo, having completed it back in July, but the wine still had just a touch of gas remaining on the backend, as it had not yet been racked. The bouquet is a deep and again quite dark fruit-toned blend of black cherries, black plums, chocolate, rosemary, dark soil tones, lavender and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, plush and chocolaty, with a fine core, ripe tannins and a long, nascently complex and black fruity finish. Again, I have never tasted a young vintage of Maréchaudes with these aromatics and flavor profile, but the wine is very well-made and should age very well indeed. I cannot wait to see its ultimate personality!

All the elements are here in this young red. The raspberry and cherry flavors are pure, framed by subtle oak spice notes and supported by a firm structure. The finish echoes fruit and spice details despite closing up a little. Best from 2019 through 2032. 98 cases made. — BS

(90-92 points) (vinified with 30% whole clusters; this finished its malolactic fermentation in August): Bright, dark red. Aromas of cherry, flowers, spices and pepper are lifted by a pungent limestone topnote. Juicy, sappy and sweet; more evolved and showy today owing to the earlier malo. The building tannins are firm but elegant and not at all dry, with the finish delivering lovely length and grip. I like the influence of the stems here. -- Stephen Tanzer
