The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature from Chappellet, a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Malbec and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot, is a stunner. Moreover, it’s a pretty realistic value for a top-notch Cabernet from California. Of course, it’s a great vintage and they’ve nailed it. Deep ruby/purple color, notes of blueberry, blackberry, with cassis, camphor and spring flowers, the wine is full-bodied, powerful (14.8% natural alcohol), layered with supple tannins and a long, long finish. This wine can be drunk now, or cellared for 25 or more years. - Robert Parker

Rich and roasted aromas of dark fruit, chaparral and espresso introduce a fresh, crisp and juicy wine, with more mellow structuring elements than one might expect from this site and vintage. While an appealing wine in its style, I confess to feeling considerable nostalgia for the classically balanced, immensely ageworthy and structured wines produced here in the '60s and '70s.
