Whereas the RSV was hunkered down on the palate and waiting for its racking, the 2013 Hudelot Richebourg was absolutely singing at the time of my visit. This is going to be a great, great vintage for this wine, as it soars from the glass in an extremely pure mix of red plums, cherries, raspberries, cocoa, gamebirds, a marvelously complex base of soil, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and utterly refined, with a rock solid core, great focus and grip, fine-grained tannins and a very, very long, elegant and tangy finish. A beautiful Richebourg in the making. (Drink between 2025-2075) 97+

(WA93-94 points) The 2013 Richebourg Grand Cru has a more broody bouquet compared to the Romanée Saint Vivant, the fruit darker, though perhaps eventually that subtle floral note with become more pronounced. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a fine bead of acidity plus a firm backbone and focus, although at the moment it does not have the sheer untrammeled chutzpah of the R,S,V. Still impressive though, and Charles mentioned that it was changing each day. - Neal Martin

Tactile and dense but very closed and unforthcoming. Less sweet and more savory than the RVS, showing less early sex appeal but more power. This struck me as much more affected by the bottling last March than the RSV.

The overtly spicy nose features cool and ultra-pure notes of essence of red currant, violets and a touch of plum, all of which is trimmed is subtle hints of sandalwood. The intense, muscular and large-scaled flavors exude a fine bead of minerality on the powerful and punchy if ever-so-slightly lean and drying finish. Like the RSV this possesses plenty of positive attributes though the edgy finish detracts slightly from the overall appeal. 2025+
